Objective: To answer my essential question: What is the most important skill to hone when preparing for a career as a broadcasting news video editor? Also provide information that is completely overwhelming to the audience.
Procedure:
- I will greet the class and introduce to them my project topic along with my essential question.
- I will ask them what they think and editors job is.
- I will pick on 2 to 3 students to ask them what they think the answer to that question is.
- I will give them my definition of what I think an editors job is based on my research and what my interviewees have told me.
- I will have a slide dedicated to an over summary of what I will be presenting. Like a schedule.
- I will present to them three answers I have come up with to answer my EQ.
- After answering my EQ I will start my activity
- For the activity the students will be creating a short video script based on the treatment I give them.
- I will give them about 5 minutes to prepare and I will have at least 2 groups present their video script.
- I will give three meaningful sources.
- I will conclude my presentation with a quick summary about the importance of knowing how to use video scripts and why they are important.
Check for understanding:
I will check for understanding based on my activity. Once they present their video scripts, I will be able to see if they understand the importance of a video script and how an editor uses it to create their video segment based on how well they grasped the idea of how to create a video script.
- Resources/Materials:
- Laptop
- Projector
- Light
- Projector Screen
- print out the treatments and the video script format per group
I think your activity will be too long...also, you want the activity to use info taught. Does it do this? Make sure with anything this detailed that you really focus your activity. I would also suggest maybe teaching on one of your answers at this time.
